Nordic-Baltic Security Outlook 2027: What Norwegian Companies Need to Know

On October 20 we were pleased to bring together business leaders and geopolitical and security experts at Origo One Business Center for a discussion on what does the changing Nordic-Baltic security landscape mean for businesses planning for 2027 and beyond.
Organized by the Norwegian Chamber of Commerce in Latvia in cooperation with DNB Latvia Branch and Linstow Baltic, the event explored how geopolitical shifts, hybrid threats, societal resilience and critical infrastructure are shaping the way businesses operate, invest and prepare for the future. We were honoured to open the event with welcoming remarks from H.E. Martin Sørby, the Ambassador of Norway to Latvia, who set the stage for an important conversation on regional security.
Our distinguished speakers shared important perspectives:
🔹 Krišjānis Kariņš, Senior Advisor at Kreab and former Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, explored the geopolitical developments and strategic shifts shaping the Nordic-Baltic region.
🔹 Jānis Vanags, CIREN / Nordic Resilience Summit, shared perspectives on societal resilience and hybrid threats, and how businesses and societies can prepare for an increasingly complex risk environment.
🔹 Torgeir von Essen, Operational Security Head at DNB, contributed DNB’s perspective on evolving corporate security priorities and the considerations businesses need to keep in mind as the risk landscape changes.
The discussion, followed by a roundtable and Q&A moderated by Harolds Bulmanis, highlighted how closely security, resilience and long-term business planning are connected — especially for Nordic companies operating in the Baltic region. It sparked an engaging and thought-provoking discussion on preparedness for various challenges, while also encouraging attendees to share their experiences in an informal atmosphere.
As businesses look towards 2027 and beyond, understanding emerging risks, strengthening preparedness and incorporating security considerations into strategic decisions will be essential to building long-term resilience.
We would like to sincerely thank our speakers, partners and everyone who joined the conversation. Events like this help turn complex challenges into shared understanding and practical perspectives for the future.
