At the end of August this year, the registered unemployment rate in Latvia was 8.2 percent of the economically active population, which is 0.4 percentage points less than
a month earlier, according to information from the State Employment Agency (SEA).


At the end of August 2020, a total of 75,013 unemployed people were registered with the SEA, which is 2,985 people less than a month earlier, when 77,998 unemployed people
were registered with the agency. Among other things, the unemployment rate fell fastest in Kurzeme region in August, while the slowest decline in the unemployment rate was in Riga. At the end of August, the lowest registered unemployment rate was in the Riga region - 6.6 percent, which is 0.3 percentage points less than a month earlier, but the highest registered unemployment rate remained in the Latgale region - 15.8 percent, which is also a decrease of 0.3 percentage points.
