Nordic Company Representatives meet at Female Focus Networking

16 November 2022

Thanks to all the female leaders and professionals who joined us on November 15 for the Female Focus networking lunch at Grand Palace Hotel, featuring two distinguished speakers - H.E. Norwegian Ambassador to Latvia Ine Måreng and Entrepreneur, Lawyer, and the great granddaughter of the 1st President of the Republic of Latvia Kristīne Anne Čakste.

During the Female Focus networking lunch, Nordic company representatives and guests got to hear the story of the new Norwegian Ambassador to Latvia H.E. Ine Måreng, who opened up to the audience about the values and lessons that help her succeed in professional and personal life. Ine Mareng, who has been with the Norwegian Foreign Service for 25 years, the last 15 in management positions, emphasized the need to take care of oneself to be able to serve and care for others! She also pointed out the need to step out of one's comfort zone, promote diversity and to invest in surrounding people, among other things that have served as guiding principles in her professional life and in her leadership role. To continue to develop and to learn about the challenges young leaders face, she hoped to continue the dialogue and invited the participants to keep in contact.

As this month we mark one hundred years since the first President of Latvia Jānis Čakste was elected by the first Saeima, it was especially big honor to meet and hear the story of Čakste's great-granddaughter Krīstīne Anne Čakste. Ms Čakste has been brought up in Sweden and has made a name for herself, serving as the fund manager and partner for the Stockholm-based Accent Equity Partners AB. While living in Sweden, Kristīne has taken an active part in the Latvian community by serving as the Minister Counselor to the first Ambassador of Latvia to Sweden Imants Gross. In this capacity, she has contributed to the initial development of the embassy in 1991 and assisted in the development of diplomatic relations between Latvia and over twenty other countries. In her remarks, Ms Čakste repeatedly emphasized the role of freedom, democracy and equality, which we ought to cherish and foster in our lives.

The Female Focus networking series was started in 2014 by NCCL and the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Latvia (SCCL) with the support of Norwegian and Swedish Embassies in Latvia. Female Focus is inspired by Scandinavian values and introduces speakers with different professional backgrounds inspiring both head & heart sharing their experience on relevant topics such as leadership, entrepreneurship, meeting professional and private challenges, and work & life balance.
