NCCL Meets with Director General of LIAA

24 January 2022

On January 21, NCCL Chairman of the Board Matiss Kukainis and Executive Director Ilze Garoza together with the Norwegian Ambassador to Latvia H. E. Kristian Ødegaard and Deputy Head of Mission Jannicke Bain visited the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) and met with LIAA Director General Kaspars Rožkalns and his team members from the Investment Department.

During the meeting, both parties acknowledged the good cooperation built over the years with LIAA and its Representative Office in Oslo, shared priorities and plans for 2022 and discussed available support programmes to existing and potential Norwegian investors in Latvia.

As it has been reported before, LIAA is charge of implementing Norway Grants programme "Business Development, Innovation, Small and Medium Enterprises" in Latvia. The total grant for "Business and Innovation" programme is €14.7 million, including Norway Grant for an amount of €12.5 million and national co-financing - €2.2 million. The last call was described as a success as every project receiving funding had managed to establish partnerships in Norway helping to expand cross-border cooperation.

To help NCCL members to expand their business networks, on February 9th, Norwegian Chamber of Commerce in Latvia in partnership with the Norwegian Embassy in Latvia, Latvian Embassy in Norway and LIAA will organize the 2nd virtual Norwegian Latvian Business networking. Later in the spring, in early May, NCCL plans to organize a study visit and a business forum in Norway.
