NCCL assists Sigulda Municipality and the Social Responsibility Project Cerību sēta

23 November 2012

The Board of NCCL supports the NGO "Cerību spārni" and the community project "Cerību sēta". The goal of the project is to develop a village in the area near Sigulda, where people with disabilities will be able to live and work on their own. The village will be based on similar Scandinavian models engaging disabled people in real work, raising their self esteem and quality of life.

On October 16 a Letter of Intent was signed between Sigulda municipality, NCCL and "Ceribu sparni", where NCCL Board members have committed to assist "Ceribu Sparni" and Sigulda municipality in the development of the village. There is an actual need for such privately or NGO organized villages as an alternative for state institutions and the project has also been presented to the Welfare Minister.
