In September 2021, Latvia's actual unemployment rate was 6.4 percent, down 0.5 percentage points from August, shows the Labor Force Survey conducted by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB). This is the lowest unemployment rate recorded since December 2019 when it was 6.6 percent, the CSB said.

Joblessness in Latvia's women population declined by 0.3 percentage points to 5.4 percent and unemployment among men dropped 0.6 percentage points to 7.5 percent. Latvia's unemployment rate registered by the State Employment Agency was 6 percent in September, down 0.5 percentage points from August. Compared to September 2020, the actual unemployment rate decreased by 1.6 percentage points and registered unemployment declined 1.7 percent.

In September 2021, 60,400 people in Latvia were jobless (including 25,100 women and 35,300 men). Their number reduced by 4,300 from August and by 17,300 from September 2020. The number of jobless women decreased by 1,700 and the number of jobless men was down 2,600 over the month.
