Foreign investments in Latvian companies last year reached almost EUR 11.29 billion

Investment of foreign companies and individuals in share capital of Latvian companies last year reached EUR 11.29 billion, according to Lursoft business database. The steep rise was caused by registration of Swedbank Baltics holding in February 2021.

Initially the company had a share capital of EUR 35,000 which has been increased to EUR 3.88 billion in October. The new holding is a shareholder of Swedbank. At the same time, Lursoft reports that last year 18,300 companies had attracted foreign capital, down from 19,800 companies at the end of 2020. Riga has 84.2 percent of all companies with accumulated foreign capital.
