Cooperation between NCCL and Cerību Spārni moves forward
05 February 2013
Applying for funding, establishing contacts in Norway and cooperation with the Social Committee of Saeima - here is a short update:
Applying for EEA Grants and Norway Grants
"Cerību Spārni" is currently writing a project in order to apply for the EEA Grants and Norway Grants with an application deadline of February 11, 2013. The aim of this innovative project is to develop a center providing support for persons with disabilities during their employment. The respective center will involve persons with disabilities in the labour market by providing to them different consultations and training. They will receive a special mentorship support. It is an innovative idea because there is nothing similar in Latvia yet.
Establishing contact and cooperation with a similar Norwegian NGO
"Cerību Spārni" have also contacted Mrs. Anne Lise Bakken, the President of Workability Europe with the aim to establish a contact and cooperation with an NGO in Norway which has experience in employment of persons with disabilities. The potential cooperation would include organizing an experience exchange visit to Norway in the first quarter of year 2014. Mrs. Anne-Lise Bakken is the Deputy Director of ASVL (Norwegian organization working with companies regarding employment of people with disabilities) and the former Norwegian Minister of Administration and Consumer Affairs. She was elected as President of Workability Europe on 28 September 2012 during the General Assembly in Paris.
Sharing our experiences with the Social Committee of the Latvian Parliament
The Board of NCCL (represented by Petter Lundeby and Agnese Medne) and "Cerību Spārni" participated in a meeting of the Social Committee of the Latvian Parliament on December 19, 2012. The aim of the meeting was to exchange information about the existing experiences and projects involving employment of persons with disabilities in Latvia. The Ministry of Welfare of the Republic of Latvia is currently working on the long term strategy encouraging employers to employ persons with disabilities. Such incentives as subsidies and tax reductions are being considered. The Social Committee will have another meeting in spring 2013, where NCCL and "Cerību Spārni" will be invited again in order to contribute and follow up the strategy drafted by the Ministry of Welfare.
