Discussion on Latvias Tourism Development plan for 2021-2027
10 September 2020
As the previous Tourism Development plan for Latvia expires this year, the Ministry of Economics, which oversees the tourism industry in Latvia, is in the process of drafting Latvia's Tourism Development plan for 2021-2027. We understand this has been a very complicated year for all players in the tourism and hospitality sector. As the industry is fighting for survival, we thought we should not lose the focus on the long-term outlook.
From 2016-2018, NCCL, SCCL and AmCham togetherformed a Joint Foreign Chambers of Commerce Tourism Working Group with an aim to increase cooperation on Latvia's tourism development. In response to the request by our Joint working group, we have asked Ilona Kalniņa, the person in charge of drafting the new policy document at the Ministry of Economics to explain to our members what does this plan entail and what is the overall long-term outlook towards the tourism industry in Latvia. Whereas, Inese Šīrava, Head of the Tourism Department at LIAA has agreed to give an update on the currently available government support mechanisms to the tourism industry to dampen negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The meeting will take place on September 10 at 10:00 at the Ministry of Economics, Brīvības iela 55.
The meeting is open to members of NCCL, SCCL and AmCham, which operate in the field of tourism and hospitality. If you plan on attending, please confirm your participation by e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org and send us any questions you may have!< Back to events
